The Rockport Townies snapped Ipswich's 12-game winning streak by taking the second game of the ITL Final series 9-3 on Sunday at Evans Field. It was also Rockport’s first victory over the Chiefs since July 2004.

Adam Orlando pitched a complete game for the Townies, who took advantage of an early 1-0 lead. In the third inning, the Townies’ Jeremy Spittle started the scoring as he and Orlando were driven in by Scott Bouchie. In the fourth inning, the Chiefs tied it up on a home run, but in the fifth, Rockport continued to score.

Tom Robertson started things off with a double into the right field woods, then scored after some sloppy Ipswich defense. Rockport almost broke it open, but on a fly ball to right, the Chiefs' right fielder played the hill like a local, making an beautiful leaping catch at the edge of the woods, turning a Brent Currier drive into a spectacular out, momentarily averting further damage. But the Townies followed with a 3-run homer by Marc Bouchie and two more a moment later on another home run from Chris Bouchie.

Game 2 of the ITL Finals saw the return to action of umpiring mainstays Bob Madison, Cal Grimes, and Steve Carroll, who called a beauty of a game.

The series continues Wednesday at 5:30 at Ipswich's Linebrook Road field. With today's win, the Townies force the series' return to Evans Field next Saturday at 2:00. If needed, game 5 will be played next Sunday in Ipswich.
